Women’s (and kids’!) Summer Hike

The CPC Women’s and Kids’ Hike is rapidly approaching: this Thursday, July 26th! This is an opportunity to fellowship while we take in the beauty of God’s creation. This hike can be easy to moderate in difficulty, depending on how far you want to hike. Here are the details:

1. Where is the hike and how will we meet up?

We’ll be hiking to Talus Rock (and beyond for those who are willing & able) at Tiger Mountain. There is a FLAT trek around a lake that is also an option for those who do not want to go uphill.

We will meet at the trailhead before heading off on the hike.

For those coming from Issaquah/Bellevue/Redmond, we recommend carpooling since parking at the trailhead requires a Discover Pass (see info below). If you would like to carpool, please include that in your RSVP (see below).

2. Driving Directions

From Seattle, take I-90 east to exit 20 for High Point Way. At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right at the stop sign and then immediately turn right again. You will now be traveling west, paralleling I-90 on your right. You can either park along this road OR drive up to the official DNR parking lot (Discover Pass required). Water, maps, and toilets are also available here. Be aware that the gate closes to this lot at night. If there is no parking available in the lot, go back to the road parking –it’s popular on the road because no permit is required.

Whether you park in the lot or on the road, we will meet at the upper parking lot by the maps/toilets before setting off on our hike!

3. Parking permit

Here is a link for info. on the Discover Pass if anyone is interested in purchasing one (also good for Rattlesnake trails, Big & Little Si):

4. What to bring…water, snacks, etc.

Definitely bring water; snacks optional. Also: sturdy hiking/walking shoes, hiking poles optional. The dry conditions we’ve had lately can make the trails a bit slippery.

5. How long we think it will take

Roundtrip, if we go to the very top, the hike is 5 miles. Going to Talus Rock is about 1/3 of the distance. Plan for 1 ½ -2 hours to allow for gathering, getting organized, etc.

6. RSVP & Carpools

To let us know you’ll be joining us, please RSVP to Claudia Helm at clahelm@gmail.com or call 425-890-8163.

If you’d like to carpool, please note that in your RSVP, and we will help with setting up carpools.
