Rev. Spencer Murphy

Rev. Spencer Murphy

Spencer grew up in a small town north of Spokane, WA. He is thankful to the Lord for being raised in a Christian home, where he learned about the Bible and the Lord Jesus Christ from an early age. After graduating from Gonzaga University with a B.A. and M.A. in philosophy, he taught philosophy for more than ten years at various community colleges in Western Washington. In 2016, he married his lovely wife, Katrina, who is also a teacher and who grew up in Kent, WA. They rejoice in the Lord’s precious gift of two covenant daughters – Nora and Charlotte.

After sensing a call to pastoral ministry, Spencer enrolled in the hybrid/online program at Covenant Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. Spencer loves preaching and teaching the Bible, serving in the local church, and seeing God’s people grow into greater conformity to Christ. Spencer is a big Gonzaga basketball fan, and loves to exercise, play sports, read books, and spend time with family and friends. He is excited about the opportunity to serve at CPC.

One of his favorite Bible verses is Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
