Sonshine Ministry
Imagine being in the last stages of your life. You are confined to a wheel chair in an assisted living facility, your eyesight and hearing are not what they used to be, and you’ve probably lost a dear husband or wife. You long to go to church but your options are very limited. What will you do?
Scripture tells us, “Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life” (Prov. 16:31).The aged and elderly are to be cherished and honored. In our own day, however, they are often marginalized and forgotten, left to finish life relatively unknown.
This is where Sonshine comes in, bringing these dear souls the good news of Jesus Christ. Every Sunday morning at various facilities around Issaquah we lead the residents in a worship service. During these services for the residents we sing treasured hymns, read Scripture, preach a message from the Word, take prayer requests and, on occasion, share the Lord’s Supper together. We also take time to hear their stories and get to know their hearts.
Help is always needed, so please join us! All ages are welcome and Sonshine is a great opportunity for families to serve together.
The services are held every single Sunday at Aegis (10a) and 1-2 times a month at Briarwood (10:30a). Services are 30-45 minutes in length.
