Scripture calls believers to pray for one another (James 5:16) and entrusts to each one of us the ministry of intercession. Paul instructs the church under Timothy’s care “that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people” (1 Tim. 2:1). Paul himself prays for churches as well as asks for their prayers (e.g., Colossians 1:3 and 4:3).
Prayer Chain is a means for us to communicate prayer needs remotely. We encourage you to use this tool when you need the saints to intercede on your behalf. James writes, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16). In order to keep the prayer chain an effective medium and meaningful for everyone, we suggest these guidelines:
-
- Upon receiving a prayer request, find a way to note it down and actually pray. It is so easy to lose track of emails!
- Please use discretion when asking for prayer:
- Prayer requests for congregants and their family are generally most meaningful to everyone. This may include missionaries or even former members.
- Depending on severity and sensitivity, some requests may be better shared within a smaller circle of people you know closely (e.g., your small group).
- Please note that in some cases prayer requests may be edited before they are sent out to provide clarity or to protect the privacy of those involved.
- Prayer Chain requests are often prayed for by the officer leading congregational prayer during worship.
If members and regular attenders have prayer requests to share, please contact the office and we’ll connect you with the prayer chain.
