New City Catechism

With the loss in recent decades of the practice of catechesis—the oral instruction of doctrine and theology—Tim Keller and Sam Shammas (Redeemer Presbyterian Church, PCA) used the Reformed catechisms to construct the New City Catechism (NCC). Their aim is to address specific issues of our day from a thoroughly biblical perspective by using the historic catechisms. Each week, our church is asked the next question from the NCC in our worship service as a means of instruction. Each family is encouraged to review that question throughout the following week. For those with young children, consider using child version, as found on their website when you adjust the “settings,” or in our booklet What it Means to be a Disciple (which you can find in the narthex); the children’s answers are shorter, but rich in theology.
